The Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Delaware sponsors varied activities on the Oncology and Bone Marrow Units at the Nemours/A. I. duPont Hospital for Children.
Weekly Balloon Patrols to the in-patient and out-patient Hematology/Oncology children feature unique, oversized mylar balloons delivered by Candlelighters.
The Candlelighters also routinely sponsors additional activities for the children
and their families, which include supplying food for weekly parent support group meetings, weekly
lunches for the in-patients and annual sibling workshop.
The Candlelighters "quiet work" includes providing phone cards, gas cards, cafeteria food cards,
thermometers for home use, daily pill dispenser tray, pill crushers, educational materials and books,
as well as other items to families in need.
Candlelighters have continued over the past 23 years helping the oncology social workers with
special requests that they my have for the oncology families in need.
